QUICK OVERVIEW:
Enrollment
SRIC is a coeducational boarding private school for grades 6-12 (SS1-3). We welcome and enroll students of all faiths, races, and backgrounds, and offer a substantial amount in need-based financial aid each year. We have approximately 600 students.
Coeducation and Cultural Diversity
Since we also believe that much growth occurs through the interaction of peers, we strive to create an interesting vital mix in our student population. We actively seek students who bring different geographic, economic, social, ethnic, and racial backgrounds to our community. We also believe students this age benefit from a coeducational learning environment. At Solid Rock - as in the real world - both girls and boys occupy leadership positions within the school and participate fully in the life of the school. All of our students benefit from the global and cultural perspectives that our boarding students bring. In fact, our students hail from places as close as Markudi and as far away as Lagos.
100% University Placement
SRIC sends 100 percent of the student body to universities within and outside the country including: Canada, USA, Switzerland, Ukraine, Australia, Cyprus and UK. Eight out of ten SRIC students get into the first university of their choice.
Class Size and Faculty
SRIC's average class size is 25 students. Our talented faculties are experienced educators - more than one third have taught at SRIC for more than 5years and 68 percent have advanced degrees (including plenty of master’s degrees). Teachers also serve as advisers, regularly interacting closely with students in all aspects of their school life. Others live on campus and providing support and care for our boarding students.
After School Activities
All Solid Rock students are required to participate in an afternoon activity when the academic day ends. In addition to athletic teams, we also offer a vast amount of activities that meet a variety of individual interests.
Summer Programs
SRIC offers academic and enrichment programs, as well as sports programs for boys and girls ages 5-15. In addition to this handbook, you can get more information by calling our Outreach and Auxiliary Office at: +2348035936974
Tuition Assistance
SRIC offers a need-based financial assistance program designed to help enroll a talented, bright, socially, and economically diverse community of students who might not otherwise be able to attend the school. For information contact our Admission Office
Academic Programmes @ SRIC:
As a school that is well known for her strong dedication towards the intellectual development of the students, SRIC operate with an organized curriculum in lieu with that of the Federal Ministry of Education. We cover every area of students’ interest vis – a – vis Science, Arts, social sciences and Commercial subjects.
Clubs and Societies:
To boost the development of the individual student, several clubs and societies are put in place in the school. Factors such as student’s academic interest, social inclination, hobby, etc are put into consideration for their choice of clubs/societies. Some of the clubs at SRIC are:
• Press/Literary Club
• Mathematics Club
• Young Farmers Club
• Arts Club
• Community Service Club
• ICT Club
• Junior Engineers, Technicians and Scientists (JETS) Club.
The House Cup Competition:
Bearing in mind that SRIC is an all-boarding college, we sought ways to keep our students busy and focused whilst learning how to live as a family. One of the ways we use to achieve the above objective is the house cup competition. Students are placed into five residential houses upon admission into the school. The houses are: NEWTON, GALILEO, SARDAUNA, LINCOLN and MANDELA (all of whom we see as our model founding fathers). Each student is encouraged to see “his/her house” as a real home. The competition covers virtually every area of the students life; academics, residential, quiz/debate, sports, ICT, etc. The HOUSE of the YEAR is rewarded with a princely sum of one hundred thousand naira (N100, 000.00) only during the school’s annual end of the year speech and prize giving ceremony. Outstanding students, staff and parents are also recognized and rewarded during this occasion.
University Preparatory Services:
SRIC University Preparatory Programme is designed to ensure that SRIC graduates obtain admission to higher institutions of their choice both within and outside the country. SRIC Foundation awards scholarships to our best graduating students for their university education abroad to help expose them to better learning facilities and opportunities.
