OBJECTIVES

 

As  stated in the National Policy on Education, the broad  goals of secondary  education  shall be  to  prepare  the  individual  for:

a)  Useful living within the society and

b)  Higher education; and specifically to:

 

  1. Provide all primary school leavers with the opportunity for education of a higher level, irrespective of sex, social status, religious or ethnic background.

  2. Offer diversified curriculum to carter for the differences in talents, opportunities and future roles.

  3. Provide trained manpower in the applied science, technology and commerce at sub-professional grades.

  4. Develop and promote Nigerian languages, art and culture in the context of world’s cultural heritage.

  5. Inspire  students  with  a  desire  of  self  improvement  and  achievement of excellence.

  6. Foster  national  unity  with  an  emphasis  on  the  common ties  that  unite  us  in  our diversity.

  7. Raise  a  generation  of  people  who  can  think  for  themselves,  respect  the  views  and feelings  of  others,  respect  the  dignity  of  labour, appreciate those values specified under our broad national goals and live as good citizen.

  8. Provide technical knowledge and vocational skill necessary for agricultural, industrial, commercial and economic development.

 

Primarily, the aims and objectives of the founders are enshrined in the college crest viz ‘Pro Unitate’ (for unity), others include:

 

 

  1. Promotion of national unity and national integration by bringing together children from all parts of the federation to study under one roof and in one environment.

  2. Eliminate ethnicity /tribalism by fostering a spirit of oneness, patriotism and belongingness among the students and at the same time fostering a sense of cultural ties within diverse ethnic groups of the federation.

  3.  Development of the individual by providing broad based education that would sharpen the student’s natural potentials.

  4. Inculcation of academic excellence in an age of space and technology.

  5. Inculcation of moral disciple that will help to rejuvenate a society.

  6. Fostering of unity and spirit-de-corps among federal ministry of education, teachers from various cultural background that are posted to each of the FUCs located all over the country.

  7. Inculcating leadership qualities as well as discipline in the girls, preparatory to their roles as mothers in future.
