PREFECT BODY

The prefect body is the body of all prefects appointed by the schools. This constitutes the student government.

They shall deliberate on all matters, problems and welfare of students and make recommendations to the school authority through the Senior Prefect/School Captain shall preside over all meeting of school prefects.

 

APPOINTMENT OF PREFECTS

It is the duty of the school authority to appoint prefects. In appointing school prefects, the school authority should bear in mind the following qualities.

  1. Integrity of the student

  2. Ability to carry others along

  3. Academic performance

  4. Power of expression

  5. Human relation skills

  6. High level of responsibility

  7. Leadership potentials

 

REMOVAL OF PREFECTS

An appointed prefect may be removed if in the opinion of the school authority he or she is no longer fit to carry out the assigned functions and in particular if the prefect is guilty of any of the following offences.

  1. Involvement in secret cult

  2. Involvement in examination malpractise

  3. Inciting students to riot or to demonstrate against the school authorities

  4. Embezzlement or misappropriation of students’ money entrusted in his/her care

  5. Inefficiency, truancy, pride in the discharge of his or her duties

  6. Involvement in any serious offence making the prefect no longer exemplary.
